Il comitato No Space for Bezos ha annunciato manifestazioni:
Every April, we celebrate Independent Bookstore Day to remind us how vital indie bookstores are to our communities and society. It’s a day of joy and solidarity, and significant financial impact for these bookstores.
This year, Amazon is undercutting that with a “Book Sale” on the same day—a calculated move by a company that has already put half the bookstores in the country out of business, controls over 60% of the market and sells far more books than all indie bookstores combined. The people at Amazon responsible for the timing of their "Book Sale" should be ashamed, but they are shameless.
It's up to us to make sure they don't succeed at spoiling Independent Bookstore Day. Visit your local indie this weekend and help ensure that future generations can experience the sublime pleasure of shopping at a local bookstore.

Just got this from Bookshop.org:
Amazon is Shameless

«It’s unusual now to allege that #Walmart or #Amazon are bulwarks of fascism, but back then, seeing bigness as a political alternative to democracy was routine.»
«There is no world in which #Google flourishes as a #monopoly and America flourishes as a political democracy. We must choose. Since the 1970s, we have chosen poorly, and Americans have become more tolerant of authoritarianism in politics, as it just doesn’t seem that different than what they see in commerce.»

🌖Tues Feb 18, 6:30pm (London UTC)🌗 Chris Knight talks on 'How we got stuck: The hunter Monmanecki and his wives can teach Graeber and Wengrow a lesson'
'The Dawn of Everything' argues that human political arrangements got stuck when divine kings and other patriarchal despots began to confuse paternal care with coercive control. Drawing on insights provided by an Amazonian myth, Chris Knight argues that the decisive changes occurred much earlier than Graeber and Wengrow suppose. Gender politics got stuck when patriarchal forms of marriage and residence took over, disconnecting women from their former freedom to choose where to live – a freedom in turn linked with the periodicity of the moon.
Chris will be LIVE in the Daryll Forde, 2nd Floor of UCL Anthropology Dept. Come in good time by 6:30pm before …
